Tolbert Medicine is a medical practice offering comprehensive primary care to a limited number of patients. This type of practice, sometimes called “concierge medicine,” is based on a simple concept: the doctor provides highly personalized care to a limited number of patients, with each patient receiving annual wellness planning with an in-depth executive physical.
The $1,500 annual fee covers both wellness planning and the annual executive physical. Patients receive up to eight visits at no additional cost. You can pay this annual fee in quarterly payments. Most insurance plans are PPO and integrate well with Tolbert Medicine, as do most Medicare plans.

A letter to my current patients
Being your physician is one of my greatest joys. In early 2015, I’ll open Tolbert Medicine, a smaller practice here in Clemson, and I invite you to join me.
Medicine is a calling to me, based on my desire to help you live the best life possible—emotionally, spiritually and physically. Since I began private practice here in Clemson almost ten years ago, medicine has changed dramatically. Physicians are forced to see more patients in less time, resulting in lower quality care for most patients. As your physician, I refuse to give in. I’m unwilling to sacrifice your medical care for short visits and rushed examinations, so a change is essential to continue this excellence in medical care.

In my current practice, I care for over 2500 patients each year. It’s harder to see patients on the same day they call the office. Because we see more patients, every patient has longer wait times. At Tolbert Medicine, I’ll care for approximately 350 patients. Your appointment will begin on time (a 9AM appointment will begin at 9AM). Visits to my office will no longer be an inconvenience for you.
Tolbert Medicine will offer primary care with the “concierge” model of medicine. This model has increased satisfaction and results in fewer hospitalizations. A small annual fee of $1500 gives you Wellness Planning, an Executive Physical and up to eight office visits per year at no additional cost. This fee makes the concierge experience possible and I’m offering an option to make quarterly payments if you prefer.
Most of my current patients are insured through a PPO. This means your coverage will integrate seamlessly with my new practice. As part of this practice, you’ll be a part of my medical family with access to me 24/7 by mobile phone, which you can call or text. You can also email me with any questions you have throughout the day. I believe better health is possible when a medical family has better access to each other.
If you need additional or more specialized care, I'll be more capable than ever to coordinate that care quickly and thoroughly. I’ll be a better advocate for your interests and will work closely with your specialists to make sure you receive high-quality care.
Concierge medicine has a successful track record in Clemson. My friend and colleague, Dr. Ted Swann, established Swann Medicine in 2011. We’ll associate our individual practices to enhance and expand medical care delivery. He has my full respect and confidence in his integrity and practice of medicine. You’ll find this association rewarding in your pursuit of healthy living.
I realize that not all of you will follow me in this new endeavor. If you decide to transfer to another practice, I’ll help make sure that process is as easy as possible. It’s been my privilege to care for you and I wish the best for each of you in life and in health.
